Mock Rape Trial

Every year since April 2000, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. presents a mock rape trial “No Witness: Exploring the Issues of Date Rape,” an interactive play produced by St Norbert College P.E.E.R. Educators.  As RESPECT members play the roles of prosecution, defense, victim, accused, and judge, members of the audience are randomly selected to serve as the jury. Each year the mock courtroom at the Law School is used to enhance the realization of this dramatic presentation. As the jurors deliberate to determine the fate of the accused, an interactive discussion and polling of the audience’s thoughts are conducted. The myths and realities of date rape are explored as attitudes and beliefs are challenged. This is an experience that leaves many still talking after the event.
