Overview

RESPECT is a peer education group comprised of undergraduate students of the University of Arkansas.  Through the strength of peer education, RESPECT is students helping students through educational presentations, facilitated conversations, and interactive events on issues of sexual and relationship violence. Programs are developed specifically for the target audience—college students!

The social-ecological model is the framework used for RESPECT programs. Through a trauma informed lens, emphasis  is placed on cultural change and creating supportive environments in which to address the national epidemic of sexual and relationship violence among campus communities. Bystander intervention is infused throughout. RESPECT also uses a variety of methods of education about sexual and relationship violence and its prevention. Social-norming media campaigns, outreach, awareness events, classroom and group presentations, and other strategies are used to convey consistent messaging and education opportunities.
